September 25th through October 24th 2017 Human/Nature opens Monday at Angela King Gallery in New Orleans. The artist's reception will be held the 7th of October, 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. The surreal merging of human, animal, and natural forms in Kenny's paintings, "...assess[es] our symbiotic relationship with each other and the Earth." Kenny's Tornado and After the Flood highlight the uncontrollable forces of nature that impact human life. The artist shares his experience with intense weather and how it has inspired his work, here. Chie Yoshii unveils her newest painting Deliverance in Defying Gravity: Humans and Other Objects in Mid-Air at Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles. The group show runs July 15 - August 12.
Chie Yoshii paints dreamlike scenes of sensual maidens whose bodies are in bright relief against a dark background. The illumination of her subjects reveals a primal wilderness populated by colorful beasts and hypnotic feminine archetypes. The "symbolic juxtapositions" arranged in Kenny's oil paintings are a feast for the eyes that transport the viewer to many levels of being. The artist shares his sources of inspiration in this talk. January 20 - February 24, 2017 Melvin Gallery / Florida Southern College 111 Lake Hollingsworth Drive, Lakeland, FL 33801 Monday - Friday 9 AM to 4:30 PM Chris Sedgwick's solo exhibition The Last Magician opens today at The Grand Bohemian Gallery in Asheville, NC. Sedgwick creates dazzling images of personal and sacred realms in oil, gold leaf, and mixed media. The artist describes his paintings on gold leaf as utilizing "“constellation forms to accompany the gold leaf world." In addition to his recent development with constellation forms, Sedgwick continues to create mystical narratives of figures who communicate from atmospheric landscapes.
Gallery Location: 11 Boston Way in Biltmore Village Asheville, NC, 28803 The Art for Peace Traveling Show is jointly curated by Dreams & Divinities and Art of the Imagination and will showcase the visionary and fantastic art of fifty-five contributing international artists.
Benjamin A. Vierling, the prolific painter and draughtsman of esoteric themes, will have his recent work Gymnogyps californianus featured in the show. Vierling is known for his allegorical portraits, symbolic still lifes, and talismanic diagrams of arcane knowledge. His work has the dark splendor of a northern winter that initiates us into its still beauty. Also featured in the exhibition is The Garden of Afer, a painting of lush textures by Gromyko Semper, visionary artist and a curator to the recent The Encyclopædia of Fernal Affairs. The exhibition opens on the 22 March at the historic l’Atelier Gustave, once the studio of nineteenth century sculptor Gustave Germain. The exhibition will then travel to England and from there to Germany. Release dates for the latter two shows will be announced on The Dreams & Divinities social media page.
