Artist Submissions:
Symbol-and-Aesthetics.org will add artwork to the Artist page routinely, throughout the year.The Artist may provide short texts to accompany their image(s) but it remains optional. Please send submissions to: symbolaesth@zoho.com .
Biography/Artist Statement: A short biography or Artist Statement should accompany the art submission.
File type: .jpg
Size: Email size should not exceed 14 MB. To send submissions larger than this please send content in separate emails or use Dropbox.
Response Time: Response time varies between one to six weeks. All unused submissions will be deleted from our storage.
Written Submissions:
On an annual basis, Symbol-and-Aesthetics.org will be featuring essays and articles and encourages academics, artists, and readers to submit papers for consideration. Before submitting please read the site’s Terms of Use and Mission Statement.
Topics: Topics falling within the ambit of Symbol-and-Aesthetics.org include, in no particular order: 1) Philosophical trends in representational art, past or present 2) The investigation of art technique and method, past or present 3) Comparative aesthetics 4) The interplay between technology and the visual arts 5) Contemporary perspectives on the changing significance and direction of representational art.
Length: Article length should be 600-1200 words. Essay length should be 3,000-6,000 words.
Endnotes: For essays, please include endnote style citations instead of footnote style, with numeric sequence of notes in superscript. The author’s use of quotations must comply with “fair use” (17 U.S.C. § 107) but it is recommended to quote as little text as possible. It is expected that an ellipsis will be employed when necessary. Endnotes should likewise be utilized when the author wishes to elaborate further on an idea, provide background information on the particular topic and/or wishes to provide sources for the purpose of investigating the topic further.
Short articles do not require endnotes.
Graphics: Graphics may accompany a text but it is not necessary. Images should be low resolution and comply with “fair use”. Please send graphics in a separate image document.

Bibliography: Academic essays should include a bibliography irrespective of provided endnotes. Short articles do not require a bibliography.
Biography: A brief biography should accompany the submission. Biographies will be used by Symbol and Aesthetics to promote the authors.
