E. THURSTON BELMER
E. Thurston Belmer creates large scale psychological oil paintings rich in symbolism. He carefully selects powerful imagery, motifs and metaphors in order to construct and layer his engrossing images. Belmer’s exquisitely beautiful art investigates the intersection between eroticism and death.
E. Thurston Belmer’s work has been shown nationally, including two, two persons exhibitions in NYC in 2014, at Central Booking Gallery, and Salomon Art Gallery. His work was recently exhibited at Murray State University, Danforth Museum of Art, Seton Gallery - University of New Haven, Illinois Institute of Art Chicago, and the Hinge Gallery in Saint Louis among many others. His work has been published in Hyperallergic, Direct Art Magazine, Beautiful Savage Magazine in 2013 and 2014, Artribune, and Hesa Imprint Magazine, in Helsinki Finland. He received his Masters of Fine Art from Washington University in Saint Louis in 2012. Belmer currently lives and works in NYC.
