MARC BURCKHARDT

Marc Burckhardt (b.1962) received undergraduate degrees in Printmaking and Art History before completing his studies at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. His work juxtaposes historical genres and symbolism with contemporary themes, and embraces tradition as a means to explore private realities and the modern condition. His work has been exhibited internationally at locations that include The Art Institute of Boston, the Art Students League of New York, Art Basel in Miami and Switzerland, SCOPE New York, The Martin Museum of Art, Pennsylvania College of Art and Design, and is represented by Mindy Solomon Gallery (Miami), Marder Gallery (Bridgehampton), Shoal Creek Gallery (Austin), and Bash Contemporary (San Francisco).

A recipient of the Hamilton King Award, Burckhardt was named State Artist in 2010 by the Texas Commission on the Arts, and he divides his time between studios in the US and Germany.
