THANE GOREK
Thane Gorek (b.1973) is an American artist working in Northern Colorado. He studied Illustration at the School of Visual Arts, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 1995.
In recent years his main focus had been on still life painting which he calls “deviant still life”. Gorek considers the process of arranging objects for a still life to be a meditative practice. Although he begins with a basic theme or idea, he lets the objects themselves dictate their placement allowing the “strange poetry of chance” to work its magic.
Thane Gorek is currently represented by Meyer East Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico and teaches classical drawing and painting at the Schissler Academy of Fine Art in Loveland, Colorado.
